Sellers hit by a shipping bug that created “ghost” labels

November feels far away, but are we already seeing ghosts in February? 👻

In the form of money charged… to nothing?

  • "Ghost" shipping label glitch hits sellers 👻
  • Your sales: PAUSED ⏸️
  • Prime just hit 13B fast deliveries 🚀
  • AI tips for marketing teams 🤖

BLACK MARKET

File this under things sellers definitely didn’t need last week: an eBay shipping glitch that had sellers paying for labels that never printed

And to make it extra painful, those labels couldn’t be reprinted or voided, because, technically, they never existed in the first place.

💸 Charged, but nothing to ship

Multiple sellers reported being charged for shipping labels that never appeared in eBay’s system.

No label. No tracking. Just money gone.

One seller said six missing labels totaled $43.82. Others hesitated to dispute the charges through PayPal, worried it could put their eBay accounts at risk.

According to eBay moderators, here’s what went wrong:

  • Labels failed to generate after checkout
  • No transaction history showed inside eBay
  • Charges appeared directly in PayPal
  • Labels couldn’t be reprinted or voided

At the same time, eBay displayed a platform-wide warning affecting USPS, FedEx, UPS, eBay Standard Envelope, and eBay International Standard Delivery.

🛠️ Refunds are coming (eventually)

There’s still no clear timeline on when refunds will land, or how long the glitch actually lasted. However, eBay confirmed that:

  • Refunds will be processed automatically
  • Funds will return to either PayPal or sellers’ eBay accounts
  • No action is required from impacted sellers

Marketplace glitches happen. But “phantom” charges are the kind you want to catch fast.

Stay alert. Document everything. Screenshots matter, especially when every dollar and delivery window counts.

📝 How to make AI work for you

AI isn’t here to replace creativity. It’s here to make content creation faster, smarter, and more consistent.

  • Define strategy first. Know your audience, goals, tone, and platform priorities.
    • Do this: Clear objectives ensure AI delivers outputs that truly support your campaigns, rather than just generic posts.
  • Pick the right tools. Not all AI fits every workflow. Choose platforms that integrate with calendars, analytics, and approvals.
  • Draft, outline, brainstorm. AI can generate outlines, social post variations, and video scripts faster than manual work.
    • Do this: Give clear prompts so AI aligns with your brand voice and campaign goals.
  • Edit and humanize. AI drafts always need a human touch for tone, clarity, and accuracy.
    • Do this: Edit outputs to match your brand voice and make content audience-ready.
  • Publish and optimize. Use AI insights to measure performance, suggest posting times, and improve engagement.
    • Do this: Combine AI creation with analytics to refine your approach and maintain a consistent publishing schedule.

AI isn’t a replacement, it’s your teammate. What’s your go-to AI teammate right now?
