Seller accused Amazon of committing shipping fraud

After weeks of anticipating and waiting, Prime Day 2024 is here! Aside from hopes of having fat pockets after the event, make sure you keep an eye on scammers lurking around to snatch your sales.

Amazon promises to try to block off these scammers, but can you really rely on the platform? We’ll let you answer that once you’re done reading how the retailer angered sellers days before Prime Day.

  • Amazon’s “fraudulent” charges 💳
  • Smart product bundling tips for Prime Day 🧺

ECOMMERCE NEWS

Amazon has been called several names—ecommerce king, top online marketplace, and retail giant, to name a few. But one aggrieved seller gave Amazon an unexpected nickname: a “fraudulent organization.”

Why?

Because of the unexplained and unreasonable “adjustment fees” it charges sellers! Here’s the tea:

🍵 What happened?

  • A customer ordered an item but then returned it.
  • The return shipping label costs  $4.31 and was paid by the seller.
  • A month later, an additional $4.19 was charged supposedly for the return shipment.

Other sellers quickly jump in with their versions of the same story. Some even reported 5-figure adjustment fee charges!

And what did Amazon say?

An Amazon rep joined the discussion but wasn’t particularly helpful. They said carrier shipping adjustments “do not originate from Amazon.” Unfortunately, return shipping details aren’t available on Seller Central so they can’t vouch for the accuracy. 😑

The rep also said they were aware of the “bad experience” and are working to improve it. But this only frustrated other sellers more since the solution is simple: give them their money back.

5 smart product bundling tips this Prime Day

Prime Day is finally here! And there's no better time to boost your sales and clear out old inventory by creating exciting product bundles that your customers can't resist! ✨

Here are 5 effective product bundling tips shared by Amazon to help you achieve a successful Prime Day:

🛍️ How to create winning product bundles

  • Look at your data. Analyze your sales data to see which products are often bought together. For example, if customers frequently buy a facial cleanser and moisturizer, they could be a great bundle.
  • Set your bundle price. Generally, you should offer a lower price for the bundle compared to buying the items separately. Just make sure you still make a profit.
  • Optimize your product page. Improve your listings by using:
    • Clear titles that show the benefits of the products;
    • Descriptions that explain how items go well together; and
    • High-quality images of the bundles.
  • Promote your bundles. Share your offerings through emails, social media, and ads. You can also run special promotions to get more attention.
  • Track how they sell. If some bundles don’t sell well, change the pairing or adjust the prices. If others do great, promote them even more!

👑 Win-win strategy

Customers love product bundles because they’re convenient and save them money. Plus, they help you sell more items at once.

So, make waves this Prime Day by making your customers happy with great deals while clearing out your stock!
