Christmas came a few weeks days early for Amazon sellers, for once sellers aren’t getting the short end of the stick. Here’s why.

After months of pressure from Shein and Temu flooding Europe with ultra-cheap everything, Amazon EU is rolling out one of its largest fee cuts ever, effective December 15.

🧵 Fast-fashion just got friendlier

Clothing and accessory referral fees are taking a healthy cut:

  • 7% to 5% for items under €15
  • 15% to 10% for items €15–€20

That puts budget tops, accessories, and other impulse buys right in the extra-margin sweet spot, aka Shein and Temu’s home turf.

🛒 And the cuts don't stop at fashion

Amazon’s widening the savings net starting February 1:

  • Home products under €20 drop from 15% to 8%
  • Pet clothing, grocery, and vitamins also get fee trims
  • Fulfilment fees across Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the UK shrink by about €0.32 per parcel beginning December 15

Not massive on their own, but when you’re moving thousands of units, those cents add up fast 💸.

Lower fees give EU sellers something rare: actual breathing room. You can:

Shopify outage can't stop record BFCM sales

Cyber Monday chaos: thousands of Shopify merchants got locked out of dashboards and checkout systems right at peak traffic. Tragic.

Over 4,000 outages were reported in the U.S. and more than 2,500 in the U.K. 

💸 Record sales roll in anyway

Shopify later traced the problem to a login authentication glitch, which was fixed by early afternoon, and things began to recover.

True enough, the glitch didn’t slow the holiday rush.

  • Shopify-powered brands still crushed it with $14.6B in Black Friday–Cyber Monday sales, up 27% YoY. 
  • Over 81 million shoppers bought from these merchants, with Black Friday peaking at $5.1M in sales per minute.
  • Even cooler: over 15,800 entrepreneurs made their first-ever sale, proving growth didn’t take a holiday break.

Tech issues happen, even to the giants, but demand stays strong
