When’s the perfect time to launch your festive season campaign?

ICYDK, Amazon and Walmart’s Flipkart are under hot waters in India due to alleged violations of local competition laws. Both might also face fines and more probes from Indian authorities, which could affect their holiday performance in the country.

Whether you sell or not in India through these platforms, you’d want to digest the information-rich holiday stuff we have for you today—if you want a different holiday fate.

BIG IDEA

With the holidays come heightened competition, shifting consumer behaviors, and skyrocketing ad costs. So, how do you ensure your campaign stands out?

Social Samosa says it’s all about timing. Yep, it’s not just about being noticed—it’s about delivering the perfect festive campaign at just the right moment

Start early, stay chill

If you want a successful festive campaign, you’ve gotta start your preparation really early. We’re talking 3 to 6 months in advance because you’ll need time to figure out your target audience and lock down the best ad spaces before the rush (and price hikes) begins.

But here’s the thing: if you launch too early, your campaign might fizzle out. Yet if you wait too long, you risk getting lost in the holiday rush.

So, when should you hit the "go" button? 🟢

Well, it depends on a few factors:

  • Goals: Are you trying to drive sales, build brand awareness, or create engagement? Your objectives will help determine when to roll things out.
  • Audience: When are your customers most likely to be in shopping mode? Some are early birds, some wait till the last minute, and others love those post-holiday deals.
    • Pre-holiday (October - early November): This is the moment to catch the attention of early shoppers. It’s great for building hype, but keep in mind that most people aren’t in a shopping frenzy just yet.
    • Holiday peak (mid-November - mid-December): People are actively shopping, and your campaign will hit when everyone’s in gift-buying mode. Just be prepared for stiff competition and higher ad costs.
    • Post-holiday (December 26 - January 2): The holiday isn’t over yet for bargain hunters! If you’ve got leftover stock or want to keep the momentum going, this is your chance. 🎉
  • Competition: Take a peek at what others are doing. Are there gaps you can fill or moments when your message could rise above the noise?
  • Media investments: As the holidays near, ad prices soar. Plan your media spend early to secure spots before costs rise, maximizing your reach without overspending.

Tip: When launching your campaign, consider a phased approach. Start with teasers or early-bird offers to build some excitement, and then roll out your main campaign as the holidays get closer.

🛆 The festive campaign trifecta

At the end of the day, the most successful holiday campaigns nail three things: creativity, strategy, and timing. Sure, creativity grabs attention, but strategic timing ensures you’re not just seen but also remembered.

Get the timing right and you won’t just drive sales—you’ll build a festive connection that lasts long after the holiday lights come down.

    • Tip: Make sure your title still sounds natural and relevant.
  • Optimize those backend keywords. Including those timely keywords in the backend can work wonders for your product’s visibility without cluttering up the front end. 🔙
