As the holiday season gets closer, last-minute strategies and insights become more crucial. And of course, there’s nothing like studies and surveys to get a feel of what shoppers want.

To help you craft game-changing holiday tactics, Enterprise Times shared their analysis of customers’ shopping wishes this year.

So, what do shoppers want?

We got one word for you: DISCOUNTS! 🏷️

Yep, deal hunting continues. Discount use in early October was up by 22% from last year. This means shoppers are looking for deals and trading down for less expensive items.

Other key findings for October include:

  • Increasing sales compared with last year, with September and October sales up by 8% and 3%, respectively.
  • Grocery and apparel are the leading categories, with groceries up 32% compared to September 2023. There was also an increase in luxury spending (up 18% YoY), as opposed to that in electronics, which has fallen by 9%.

🔑 But there’s a key takeaway missing

While it’s clear that customers are now “value-focused,” the data doesn’t tell the best way to get your deals discovered.

Many shoppers discover special offers from purely digital sources, including email, social media platforms, online search, and online marketplaces. So, brands and sellers who can incorporate AI and other new tech into their strategies will be the ones that thrive this season.
