Seller got bullied off their listing over a fake claim

One seller found themselves sweating bullets after another seller accused them of listing a counterfeit product, despite the fact that the item came straight from a liquidation auction.

The accuser threatened an A–Z claim unless the listing disappeared, and OP folded fast, pulled the product, and wondered if it was a real risk or just Amazon-flavored fearmongering.

  • Liquidation does not equal legitimacy. Even genuine items from liquidation are treated like napkin receipts, useless if authenticity is questioned.
  • Brand-owned listings are traps. Selling on a brand-registered ASIN puts you one complaint away from trouble.
  • Ungated is not a green light. Listing is allowed, but Amazon doesn’t assume you should.
  • Veteran seller advice: “Freeloading on someone’s brand will get you burned.”
