120,000 fake Amazon sites surface just days before Prime DaY

Amazon’s Prime Day isn’t just getting longer—it’s getting louder. Its sound? Ca-ching! 📦💸

With U.S. shoppers expected to spend $23.8B over the 96-hour stretch, it’s basically two Black Fridays rolled into one.

Here’s what you’re competing with. 👇

  • Prime Day scammers launch 120K fake sites ⚠️
  • Walmart.com becomes summer’s go-to shop spot 🏖️
  • Budget cuts hit, but Amazon still wins clicks 🧾
  • Outsmart FBA delays before they sink sales ⏱️

BLACK MARKET

Just like sellers, scammers are gearing up for Prime Day. But instead of dropping deals, they’re out to steal from customers.

According to Fox News, security experts have uncovered over 120,000 fake Amazon websites launched in the past two months, timed perfectly to prey on the sale frenzy.

🎣 Scam season is in full swing

These scam sites are crawling with malware, phishing traps, and counterfeit listings. With shoppers rushing to grab lightning deals, they're more likely to fall for convincing fakes.

“Limited-time offer!” → Click → Boom, their info’s gone.

🚫 Amazon’s not sitting this out

No official press release yet, but actions speak louder:

  • The retail giant has reportedly emailed all Prime customers with warnings about phishing emails impersonating Amazon ahead of the sale.
  • 55,000 phishing sites and 12,000 scam phone numbers shut down in 2024
  • Global partnerships with law enforcement to track and prosecute fraudsters

Still, the rise of AI means scammers are scaling faster than ever. Shut down one site, and three more sprout up like digital weeds.

🧠 Well, this affects you too

If fraudsters can fake Amazon, your storefront’s fair game. Time to get proactive:

  • Remind your customers how your transactions and support actually work
  • Share quick tips on spotting scams

Prime Day scam waves aren’t new, but they are getting sneakier. Stay sharp, keep it clear, and don’t let urgency override common sense.

BITES OF THE WEEK

Shoppers are spending less but not leaving Amazon

Even with inflation anxiety running high, U.S. Amazon shoppers are NOT jumping ship.

According to Investing.com, a new Jefferies survey of 700 U.S. consumers found 62% spent the same or more on Amazon over the past three months—despite 80% saying they’re worried about rising prices, particularly from new tariffs.

🛍️ Spending dips, but not dramatically

There are signs of belt-tightening:

  • 31% said they’re spending less
  • 34% are shopping less frequently
  • Just 3% have stopped using Amazon altogether

When asked what they'd do if inflation worsens, 45% said they’d cut Amazon spending—not switch to other retailers.

👑 Prime stays sticky

Amazon Prime remains the loyalty anchor:

  • 73% of respondents are Prime members—nearly 3x more than Walmart+
  • 57% plan to keep their memberships
  • 19% are eyeing cancellation—slightly higher than Walmart+ and Costco

Jefferies expects the July 8–11 Prime Day to give memberships another bump.

🥇 Amazon still leads

When it comes to online retail must-haves, Amazon stays dominant:

  • #1 in shipping speed (72%)
  • #1 in product selection (74%)
  • A close #2 in low prices (37%), behind Walmart’s 46%

So, shoppers aren’t bailing on Amazon, but they are definitely watching their wallets

With Prime Day around the corner and search traffic heating up, your offers need to hit hard. This year, it’s all about making every dollar feel worth it.eyes on the long game.

How to dodge Amazon FBA delivery delays

FBA is a powerful model, BUT let’s not pretend it’s bulletproof.

Just recently, some U.K. Amazon sellers got hit with delivery delays at a key fulfillment center. And it’s not an isolated glitch, FBA hiccups have a long history, from shifting priorities to warehouse overloads. 🖐️

My Amazon Guy shared tips on how to keep your business going during tough times.

🛠️ Outrun the chaos

Prime Day’s coming, and with it, chaos in the fulfillment pipeline. The sellers who survive FBA hiccups aren’t lucky—they’re prepared. Having a Plan B isn’t panic. It's a strategy. 🤔
