BIG IDEA

Prime Big Deal Days have wrapped up, and the numbers are in!

According to Digital Commerce 360, here’s how this October’s sales event stacked up against this year’s July Prime Day and last year’s October event:

🔷 Prime Big Deal Days 2024 vs. Prime Day 2024

🔶 Prime Big Deal Day 2024 vs. Prime Big Deal Days 2023

  • Higher sales. This year’s Prime Big Deal Days saw a huge 41% increase in sales compared to last year’s. Day 2 sales in 2024 were also much closer to Day 1’s performance, with a 42% increase by midday.
  • Stronger discounts. More aggressive discounts (up to 26% on apparel) and better deals helped drive the surge in sales.
  • Global growth. Canadian and European markets showed positive trends, with online orders growing 2% and 4%, respectively.

While there’s still room to grow compared with Prime Day, this year’s Prime Big Deal Days is a huge success! And just so you know, with continued marketing efforts, you can soon use this event as a sales driver year after year. 🚀

Sellers blame chaotic October FBA capacity limits for inefficient inventory management

If you find yourself struggling with the FBA capacity limits for October, you’re not alone. EcommerceBytes reported that many sellers are quite frustrated due to reduced capacity limits.

What’s more, requests for capacity increase in October won't push through!

❓ What’s happening, exactly?

ICYDK, Amazon announced the new FBA capacity management system last year. The retailer claimed that this system can provide estimated capacity limits up to 3 months in advance.

  • In July this year, Amazon said that the sellers’ estimated capacity for October will double.
  • However, sellers reported that their October estimated limits did not match the July projections! In fact, their capacity limits dropped by 25% from their current ones! ⬇️

With these fluctuations, sellers can’t manage their inventory properly. Plus, they can’t submit requests for an increase.

So, what now?

Well, sellers are asking for November capacity limits. But after all the craziness of this month, maybe it’s smarter to not rely on Amazon’s projections.

Amazon did release “Peak readiness and timelines for FBA capacity limits,” with reps stressing that estimates are just that—estimates subject to change. 📊

The best inventory practice this holiday? Send your inventory in advance and maximize the space you have for your bestsellers. Amazon will block you from creating additional shipments if your capacity limit is reached, anyway.
