Amazon Just Rewrote 984 Million Product Titles With AI — Here's the 14-Day Catch

Amazon just auto-enrolled every active Sponsored Products campaign into ads running inside Amazon Influencer creator content — no opt-in, no notice you had to act on. Meanwhile, eBay posted a blowout Q2 right after buying Depop from Etsy for $1.4 billion, and Etsy turned around and cut 12% of its staff days after banking that check.

Here's what changed this week, and what to do about it.

AMAZON NEWS

Starting August 10, Amazon began serving Sponsored Products ads inside content from creators enrolled in the Amazon Influencer Program — and every existing campaign was auto-enrolled with “no advertiser action required,” per Amazon.

📣 How it actually works

Amazon recommends products to creators based on relevance, creators choose what to feature in reviews and buying guides, and your ad runs against that content using your current bids and budgets. Standard cost-per-click billing applies both on and off Amazon — but Top of Search and Product Pages bid adjustments don't carry over to creator placements, so your on-Amazon strategy doesn't automatically translate.

🎛️ The controls you actually have

Two campaign-level settings govern this:

  • “Increase reach” (the default, which keeps you enrolled) and
  • “Limit off-Amazon spend” (which restricts delivery to creators).

You can exclude individual creators, but there's no full opt-out short of capping spend. Availability spans the US, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, India and more — the UK is excluded for now.

What this means for sellers

Check your campaign settings today, not next week — the default already has your ad spend running against creator content you haven't vetted.

And watch your search term reports closely: Amazon supplies “inferred keywords” for these placements that no shopper actually typed, which are useful for negative targeting but can quietly skew how you read performance if you're not expecting them.

Amazon just moved 3D models to the front row. Is your listing ready?

Amazon just changed where your product lives.

Remember the "View in 3D" button on mobile? That's gone now.

3D models on mobile are now embedded directly in the main image carousel. Before, it was tucked away and treated as optional.

But not now.

It's front and centre. The first thing a customer sees when they land on your listing, right next to your hero image.

Amazon doesn't move things into the carousel without data behind it. They've seen what 3D does to dwell time, engagement, and conversion, and they've made it a core part of the listing experience.

It's just like when A+ Content first rolled out. Same way for videos in listings or Brand Stores.

The brands that moved first built leads that took competitors years to close. Right now, less than 1% of Amazon brands have a 3D model on their listing. But that window won't stay open long.

Future-proof your brand

3D Images builds Amazon-compliant 3D models specifically for sellers, with a QA validation process so your model never gets rejected, and turnaround times that get you live fast.

No big budget needed. No creative agency.

This month, get 20% off your first 3D model.

eBay's Blowout Quarter Comes Right After It Bought Etsy's Depop

Two marketplaces just moved in opposite directions on the same story — and it's a good read on where e-commerce money is actually flowing right now.

📈 eBay bought growth, then reported it

eBay's Q2 2026 revenue hit $3.1 billionup 15% year-over-year, with GMV up 15% to $22.4 billion — U.S. GMV alone grew 24%. Ad revenue on the platform jumped 25% to $596 million, and eBay raised its full-year outlook on the strength of it. Days before reporting, eBay completed its $1.4 billion acquisition of Depop from Etsy, a deliberate bet on resale and fashion to keep compounding those GMV gains.

✂️ Etsy cut staff right after banking the check

Etsy took that same $1.4 billion and, days later, cut roughly 200 jobs — about 12% of its workforce, concentrated in product and engineering — despite posting marketplace revenue growth of 9.3% and GMS growth of 7.5% in the same quarter. CEO Kruti Patel Goyal called it proactive repositioning rather than a reaction to weak numbers.

💵 And the fee question isn't going anywhere

Separately, eBay's CEO confirmed the company has no plans to shift from seller-paid to buyer-paid fees in the US, even though it's tested that model in some other markets — so the fee structure sellers already know isn't changing there anytime soon.

What this means for sellers

eBay is spending aggressively to buy growth categories and pour ad dollars into its own marketplace — expect more competition for placement if you sell there, without a seller-fee hike funding it, at least for now. And Etsy's cuts are a reminder that even a marketplace with fresh cash and healthy growth numbers can tighten operations fast; if Etsy is one of your channels, keep an eye on support response times and policy turnaround as teams shrink.
