Amazon Just Gave Every Seller a Free AI Agent — And Let Claude Read Your Data

Amazon just made its AI seller tools free for the rest of the year — and opened the door for Claude to read your inventory and sales data straight from Seller Central. Meanwhile, Meta locked TikTok out of its ad platforms entirely, scammers are running fake storefronts on Facebook and TikTok to steal card data, and Amazon's Black Friday deal deadline is almost here.

Here's what changed, and what it means for your business.

  • 📢 Amazon just gave every seller a free AI agent — and let Claude read your data
  • 🛍️ Meta locks TikTok out of its ad platforms — what it means if you run both
  • ⚠️ Scammers are running fake discount storefronts on Facebook and TikTok — and spoofing real brands to do it
  • 📊 Quick hits: Amazon's Oct 20 BFCM deadline, OpenAI's new ad unit, and Google's Merchant Center shakeup

AMAZON NEWS

Amazon's seller tools just got a serious AI upgrade — and for a limited time, the premium tier is free.

📢 What's changing

At Accelerate 2026, Amazon rolled out a redesigned Seller Assistant with persistent memory and always-on automated workflows, plus a new Selling Partner plugin that connects seller data — inventory, pricing, sales metrics — directly into outside AI tools, launching with Amazon's own Quick assistant and in beta with Anthropic's Claude, according to Amazon's own announcement. Every primary account holder — plus two teammates — can claim a free 12-month Amazon Quick Plus subscription through December 31, 2026, per Nova Data's breakdown of the rollout. AI Weekly notes Amazon says sellers already accept the assistant's recommendations more than 90% of the time, and about 90% of sellers already use some outside AI tool to run parts of their business.

What this means for sellers

If you haven't claimed your free Quick Plus seat yet, don't sleep on it — the offer runs through year-end and covers two extra teammate seats at no cost. More importantly, workflows can now act on your behalf, with your approval, even when you're logged out of Seller Central — worth testing on something low-stakes first (a single SKU reprice, a restock alert) before handing over anything with real margin risk. And if you already run Claude for other parts of your business, the new plugin means you can pull Amazon inventory and sales data into those same workflows without building a separate data pipeline.

Meta Just Locked TikTok Out of Its Ad Platforms

If you've been running paid social on both TikTok and Meta's apps, pay attention — the two platforms just stopped playing nice with each other's ad dollars.

🛍️ What's changing

Meta began blocking all ads and paid promotions from TikTok parent ByteDance across Facebook and Instagram in the US and six other countries — Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam — starting October 8, according to Music Business Worldwide's report citing Bloomberg. The ban also blocks third-party campaigns that send Meta users to TikTok or other ByteDance apps — a move The Star frames as Meta simply declining to run ads for a direct competitor. It's the latest escalation in a rivalry that's heated up since TikTok limited outbound links to Instagram profiles in September, with Stocktwits noting the ban now spans seven markets in total.

What this means for sellers

This doesn't touch your ability to sell or advertise on TikTok Shop itself — it's specifically about ByteDance running ads on Meta's apps. But it's a reminder that the two biggest social commerce channels outside Amazon are actively fighting each other, not just competing for your ad budget. If you split spend across Meta and TikTok, keep your creative and tracking platform-agnostic so a sudden policy shift on either side doesn't strand a campaign — and don't assume any feature bridging the two (cross-posting, shared pixel data) will keep working.

Scammers Are Running Fake Discount Stores on Facebook and TikTok — And Stealing Card Data in Real Time

Forget sketchy order-confirmation texts — the newest scam targeting shoppers runs through a full fake storefront, built to look like the real thing, and it's spoofing real brands to earn your customers' trust.

⚠️ What's changing

Security firm Group-IB identified a phishing operation it calls Milk Dragon, active since October 2025, that has built 258 fake store pages impersonating 21 real brands — including LEGO and Calvin Klein — across 66 countries, according to Group-IB's own research. The scam runs through Facebook and TikTok ads promising steep discounts; clicking leads to a WordPress storefront running a malicious plugin called BytePress that streams card details to the scammer in real time as the victim types, before redirecting to fake verification pages and a fake order-confirmation screen to delay detection, per TechRadar. The kit is sold as Phishing-as-a-Service on Telegram for as little as 300 USDT a month, according to The Cool Down.

What this means for sellers

If you run a recognizable brand, this is worth a Google Alert and a social-listening check — Milk Dragon spoofs real brand names and logos to build trust, and a shopper who gets scammed on a lookalike site often blames the real brand, not the scammer. Watch for lookalike domains and spoofed ad accounts using your branding, and have a takedown process ready (Meta and TikTok both have brand-impersonation reporting flows) so you're not starting from scratch when it happens. And if you advertise on Facebook or TikTok yourself, expect more scrutiny on "too good to be true" discount ads this holiday season as platforms respond to reports like this one.

Quick Hits: What Else Moved This Week Across the Marketplaces

A few other marketplace moves worth a scan before you close this email:

  • ⏰ Amazon's Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday deal submission window closes October 20 — miss it and you're locked out of Lightning Deals and Best Deals placements for the event, per ecomcrew's breakdown of Amazon's Q4 calendar.
  • 🎨 OpenAI started showing visual ads next to ChatGPT's image-generation results for free US users, opening a new ad surface right where people are already picturing products, according to TechCrunch.
  • 🛒 Google's Merchant Center UCP integration hub is rolling out in the US, letting merchants choose cart hand-off to their own site, native checkout on Google, or identity linking, per PPC News Feed.

What this means for sellers

If you run holiday deals on Amazon, get your Black Friday/Cyber Monday submissions in before October 20 — the early-bird discount window has already closed, but missing the deadline entirely means sitting out the event's deal placements altogether. If you run paid campaigns through ChatGPT's image tools, keep an eye on OpenAI's new ad unit — it's brand-new inventory with likely lower competition early on. And if you sell via Google Shopping, check whether the UCP hub has reached your Merchant Center account yet — native checkout on Google could mean one less step between a shopper and a sale. headcount cuts in selling partner services may be part of why — pad your expectations for response times this quarter.
