Walmart+ Week is in full swing

Are you selling on Walmart Marketplace yet? If not, then maybe you should take it as a sign that you should! Expanding your ecommerce business should be your number one priority.

Learn more about it with some of the news we’re serving today:

HOT TOPIC

If Amazon has Prime Day, Walmart has Plus Week.

And it has already began last Monday (June 17) and will run until June 23. If you were originally planning to participate, we’re sorry to say you’re a bit late to the party. 💔

But it doesn’t hurt to know how it’s going—for future reference. Here’s Retail Dive’s breakdown of what the event offers in its second year.

What’s different in Plus Week this year?

  • Instead of an early access event for Walmart+ members, this year is seven days of savings.”
  • The event also includes exclusive access to new items, including electronics, toys, home, and footwear.
  • Deals include double discounts on fuel, 20% cashback in Walmart Cash on travel and activities, complimentary express delivery, and 3 free months of Walmart+ InHome.

🛍️ Rivals in customers, united in sales

DYK Walmart and Amazon are not the only ones with loyalty programs and sales events? Other major retailers have hopped on the trend.

  • Target added a paid membership tier to its Target Circle membership called Target 360.
  • Best Buy offered a “Black Friday in July” sales event last year.

This means one thing: Prime Day might not be the only “worthy” sales event to prepare for. If you want to maximize your profits and brand exposure, you might need to start planning out strategies for other sales frenzies.

TECH MARKETING

Is Amazon generative AI worth exploring?

Everyone, including businesses,  is integrating AI into their workflows and systems. But Amazon is taking AI to the next level (as they should!)--not only do they have a suite of AI tools, but they also have a VP of Artificial General Intelligence. Sounds fancy, right?

Here’s what eComEngine shared about it.

Amazon’s AI realm so far...

Just to name a few, Amazon has introduced:

The issues with using AI

Despite the great strides, there are still issues involving the technology.

  • Accuracy. AI may include incorrect features, colors, or sizes. Generated images can be unrealistic or inaccurate.
  • Policies. AI-generated content may not adhere to Amazon's policies. It doesn’t care about the misuse of trademarked words or brand names.
    • Pro tip: You have to be very careful when using AI for creating product listings. AI-generated descriptions that don’t adhere to the policies may be flagged for penalization.
  • Problematic writing. Generated content may not necessarily be optimized for search and may sound inconsistent with your brand’s tone.
  • Quality control. Automated issues like misclassification can also occur.

So, the current state of Amazon AI isn’t perfect–yet. It still needs some form of human moderation. So it’s safe to say to not fully rely on AI just yet. You can use it to generate the output but you still have to edit and double-check it. But who knows what future advancement we’ll see soon.

We’d like to hear from you! Do you trust Amazon’s current AI features?

SELLER REFRESHER

What to do after a seller account suspension?

Suspensions are what Amazon sellers fear the most.

Amazon suspends accounts for different reasons. This includes, but is not limited to, copyright infringement (or suspicion of such), policy violations, and poor performance.

A seller account being suspended can lead to financial losses and damages to your brand reputation. So it’s best to act right away once you get a suspension notice.

But how should you do it? TechBullion shared the things you need to do to get your account back.

Create an effective Amazon appeal

  • Conduct a thorough review of the case: Identify specific reasons for suspension
  • Acknowledge the issue and take responsibility: Show that you are aware of what you did wrong and that you take ownership of your mistakes.
  • Develop a corrective action plan: Outline your action plan step-by-step to address the issues
  • Provide supporting evidence: Include documentation to substantiate claims

Strategies for appealing an Amazon suspension:

Better be safe, than be sorry

As the saying goes, “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.” It’s better to avoid suspensions. Strictly adhere to Amazon’s policies and promptly address any issues. As much as possible monitor performance metrics, customer feedback, and marketplace trends.

Amazon may be a pro-customer industry, but it caters to sellers too! Just make sure you try your best to adhere to their policies and you’ll be in a good seller standing!
