Are your products affected by the 245% tariff on China?

If you saw the “245% tariff on China” and felt your heart skip a beat—take a breath. ABC News reported it’s not a blanket policy.

🧾 The fine print

Before you overhaul your entire sourcing strategy, the White House clarified that this isn’t a blanket tariff on all China-based imports.

The figure only applies to select product categories, absolutely not your average seller’s catalog.

Here’s what’s actually going on:

  • The U.S. is layering a new 145% product-specific tariff on top of the existing Section 301 tariffs. That’s how we get to these numbers:
    • Electric vehicles: Already under a 100% tariff (Biden), now hit with an additional 145% (Trump) = 245% total 🚗
    • Syringes and needles: 245% 💉
    • Lithium-ion batteries: 173% 🔋

This move is part of a tit-for-tat escalation with China over trade policies. The goal? Respond to what the U.S. calls unfair retaliatory measures. So, no need to slam the brakes on your sourcing strategy—just don’t drive blind.

5 ways to blend AI-generated visuals into your brand

Generative AI is revolutionizing the way brands scale, but there’s a delicate balance between embracing innovation and preserving authenticity.

While AI-generated visuals can be incredibly powerful, they sometimes risk feeling inconsistent, off-brand, or even inauthentic. Sales & Marketing Management pointed how to strike that balance:

  • Lock down your brand’s visual rules. Define your colors, lighting, fonts, and layouts to avoid mismatched content.
  • Augment, don’t replace. Use AI to enhance real photography, think background swaps, upscaling, and color correction.
  • Keep humans in the loop. Have a human quality control team ready to ensure everything feels right. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑
  • Personalize with limits. Tailor content for different audience segments, but stay true to your brand’s staples. Use AI within a system that allows for controlled variations.
  • Make it feel real. Blend AI-generated visuals seamlessly with your real-world content. Make them feel as authentic as the rest of your brand.

⚠️ Bonus: Be honest about AIIf you’re showing AI-generated photos, they need to match what customers will actually get. Be transparent about your AI use—enhance images, don’t distort them, and never let it replace the human touch.

HOT TOPIC

China just called Trump's billion-dollar tariffs ‘a joke'

We’re not making this up—China really called Trump’s billion-dollar tariffs “a joke.”

According to Al Jazeera, China’s Ministry of Finance brushed off the U.S. tariffs as economically meaningless. And now, they’re making it clear: they’re done playing along with Trump’s “tariff numbers game.

🎭 China’s not laughing

China is shrugging off the erratic policies. Moving forward, they’re acting in their own best interest.

  • China’s tariffs on U.S. goods are sitting at 125%
  • Beijing is also pulling non-tariff levers—like limiting the release of Hollywood blockbusters
  • And while U.S. tariffs (some as high as 245%) are making headlines, China’s response is mostly: meh

🌍 Global ripple effects

But while China shrugs, global markets aren’t exactly chill.

  • The World Trade Organization (WTO) says global trade could dip 0.2% in 2025—or nearly 3% lower than it would in a low-tariff world
  • If paused tariffs resume this July, we could see a 1.5% drop in global goods trade
  • Export-reliant developing nations are likely to feel the squeeze the most

Meanwhile, the UN's Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has already lowered its global growth forecast from 2.5% to 2.3%, warning that anything below 2.5% starts to flirt with global recession.
