Amazon vs. Amazon Haul: The tale of two sibling platforms

Did you know AI can greatly boost your social media reach?

Of course, you do—we all do since we’ve been in the AI era for a while now. But did you know how to leverage it to bring a more enjoyable shopping experience to your customers, like what Amazon does?

The answer is a few scroll-downs away.

  • Amazon vs. Amazon Haul ⚖️
  • Steal the holiday spotlight ✨
  • AI-powered Amazon 🦾

ECOMMERCE NEWS

Amazon Haul is less than 2 weeks old, but a lot of questions about its future have already been raised. For instance, Startups is wondering if this new venture is a hit or a miss when it comes to sustainability and product demand.

❓ Here are the other related and equally important questions about Amazon’s new low-cost storefront:

1. What are the differences between Amazon and Amazon Haul?

  • Target customers: The original Amazon website is designed for anyone looking for everything, regardless of the price. On the other hand, Amazon Haul is intended for customers looking for affordable items. Products in the latter are priced at $20 and below.
  • Shipping time. Amazon.com offers same-day up to 2-day shipping, while Amazon Haul delivers orders within 1—2 weeks (same as Shein and Temu).

2. Is Amazon Haul violating Amazon’s Climate Pledge?

  • The short answer is: it’s not clear yet. Although Amazon commits itself to sustainability, its carbon emissions actually increased by 40%.
  • A BIG IF: If Amazon Haul follows Shein and Temu’s footprint in the fast fashion industry, there’s a solid “maybe” that it’ll be a contradiction to the Climate Pledge.

3. Will Amazon Haul be available in other regions?

  • As of now, there’s no announcement on whether the new low-cost storefront will penetrate other regions.
  • But in case it enters the UK, it’ll face the EU’s strict regulations.

But the most important question is…

How exactly will Amazon Haul affect customers’ spending habits?

The platform’s still young, so we’re yet to see the actual effect. But statistics imply that low-cost ecommerce stores have a promising future ahead, especially among UK shoppers.

For now, let’s keep an eye out to see if the same is true for the global market.

5 ways Amazon delivers better shopping experience through AI

Ecommerce has come a long way from listing your wares on a website. Now, ecommerce platforms are leading the charge toward new technologies and innovations.

For starters, Amazon already incorporates several technologies into its processes. According to its recent blog post, AI shows up in everything Amazon does.

🤖 AI-powered innovations

  • Automated demand forecasting. Amazon debuted Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT)—a program that helps forecast demand for over 400 million products daily. This program analyzes customer preferences and other sales data to predict which products to stock in which quantities at which Amazon facility.
  • Intelligent order fulfillment. AI-enabled robots assist employees by recognizing, sorting, and inspecting packages. These assistants are trained with “synthetic data” created by generative AI, which helps prepare for various scenarios that may happen, especially during peak days like Cyber Monday.
  • Efficient package handling. A robot called Robin uses AI vision to sort packages before loading them onto trucks. It also calculates and decides how to handle various items and ensures packages are picked up securely.
  • Accurate logistics management. Amazon leverages AI to predict unexpected delays, like weather or traffic disruptions. This way, Amazon’s logistics team can make quick decisions and avoid delays during delivery.
  • Optimized delivery routing. In tandem with delivery predictions is routing optimization. Over 20 machine-learning models help streamline last-mile deliveries by simplifying decisions for drivers (e.g., understanding complex addresses).

AI quickly became a key component of Amazon’s growth strategy. And it should be part of yours as well—at least until the next innovation comes along. 💡
