AMAZON NEWS

Breaking news: Amazon Haul made it big on Black Friday!

As reported by Marketplace Pulse, Amazon’s low-cost section featured an aggressive 50% discount for ALL their offerings. The discount lasted from November 21 to December 2, with Amazon subsidizing the losses.

👀 The good and the bad

  • The good: Black Friday sales spiked, with 2,700 best-selling products on the platform. This is a great sign, considering Amazon Haul is just a scaled-down Temu with a smaller number of sellers and catalog size.
  • The bad: Most products sold out as Amazon and the sellers underestimated product demand. Due to stockouts, Cyber Monday underperformed compared to Black Friday. 📉

What now?

Unfortunately, the Black Friday surge wasn’t enough to kickstart Amazon’s flywheel model. Amazon Haul has been removed from the Amazon app homepage, leading to a drop in demand.

📱 Amazon also started running ads on Facebook and Instagram. It’s just unclear if this effort will help Amazon Haul match Temu.

ACTIONABLE ADVICE

How to build a successful ecommerce business in 2025

According to Entrepreneur, the ecommerce market will reach around $7 trillion by 2028. True enough, this year alone proves that selling online is still as profitable as possible (with effort, of course).

So, before we say goodbye to a record-breaking 2024, it’s time to strategize for 2025.

✅ How to make the most of the market in 2025?

Jamie LeBlanc of Prime Seller Pro outlined 5 key areas for ecommerce strategy in 2025:

  • Ecommerce platform. You must choose a platform that fits your business model. Ask yourself: will you resell vintage goods, handmade items, brand-new products, etc.?
  • Selling costs. Each platform has fees and seller support resources.
    • Compare and evaluate each platform’s fees.
    • Seek advice from other small businesses to avoid mistakes and get recommendations.
  • Strong and consistent branding. Incorporate consistent tones, colors, and logos for a professional look.
    • Maintain brand consistency across social media, websites, and marketplace platforms.
    • Tip: Hire professional brand designers to make your brand aesthetic pop out.
  • Order fulfillment. Decide on how you’ll fulfill orders.
    • Platforms may offer centralized fulfillment, but this requires excess inventory.
    • Self-shipping is an alternative but can be labor-intensive. 🚚
  • Search algorithms.
    • Optimize product listings to align with the platform's SEO guidelines to improve visibility. Amazon currently uses the A10 algorithm.

The best thing about the above guidelines? You can apply them to any ecommerce platform (not just Amazon and other mainstream selling channels). All you need to do is polish your strategy, maintain your branding, and embrace upcoming trends to slay 2025! ✨
