How to keep your sales going after Prime Day

Prime Day may be over. But that doesn’t mean you should stop grinding! Today, we’ll be talking about how life is AFTER Prime Day.

BIG IDEA

Prime Day might be over. But that shouldn’t stop you from grinding hard. What’s next now?

It's best to have a solid plan in place to keep the sales momentum. 🚀

A LinkedIn post shared essential actions to handle the post-Prime Day period for continued success.

  1. Identify your best sellers. First, dive into your sales data to understand market demand. Identify which products were flying off the shelves and which were gathering dust. Then, restock those best-sellers promptly. 📊
  2. Nurture your new customers. The new customers you’ve garnered during Prime Day are already in your pipeline. You’re already connected with them. Follow up with these customers, thank them, and encourage reviews to build loyalty. Additionally, analyze your Prime Day ads to see what worked and adjust future campaigns accordingly.
  3. Analyze your ad performance and finances. Prime Day generated a lot of numbers for you to analyze—from sales to ad revenues, it’s the best time to crunch the ROI from your Prime Day efforts. Dive deep into performance metrics like sales trends and conversion rates to understand what worked, what didn’t, and how you can improve going forward.
  4. Prepare for BFCM and the holidays. Prime Day might be over, but Black Friday and the holiday season are just around the corner. Refresh your product listings and use Prime Day insights to fine-tune your strategies.
  5. Retain your customers, and look out for your competitors. Retaining existing customers is more cost-effective than acquiring new ones. Use loyalty programs and personalized marketing to keep them engaged. Also, monitor your competitors for insights to stay competitive.
  6. Supply chain and scaling strategies. Address any supply chain issues from Prime Day to prevent stockouts and ensure timely deliveries. It’s also a great opportunity to consider scaling your business—explore new products, enter new markets, and invest in fresh marketing strategies. 📦
  7. Networking and community building. Connect with other sellers and join seller communities to gather support and valuable insights.

Keep the highs of Prime Day!

You’ve already garnered momentum from this event. With the steps we’ve outlined above, you’re sure to keep this selling streak going for the next few weeks until the next big sale! You must know how to use this selling experience and analyze the data you got from this.

A seller’s sales dip to 90% a day after Prime Day

Sales skyrocketed during Prime Day, but there’s been a noticeable dip since. A seller (OP) went to Seller Central to get answers after noticing a significant drop in sales immediately after Prime Day ended. Here's what happened:

  • During the event, their daily sales volume had increased by up to 2.5 times. However, since July 17th, their regular daily sales have plummeted by 90%. 🔻
  • Another seller in the thread mentioned that a drop in sales after Prime Day is normal. Many people buy a lot during Prime Day, and then sales slow down as they enjoy their new purchases.

Was Prime Day really a success?

Some sellers weighed in on the thread initiated by OP.

  • One said that based on their sales, they can't pinpoint when Prime Days were. Sales were typical for the past month for them.
  • Another supported this claim saying they had a "massive decline in sales. My yellow bars literally look like a downward staircase."

But it looked like Prime Day was a good experience for some, saying: "You're probably either selling items that aren't in demand and/or your prices are too high!! I sell 20-100 items EVERY...SINGLE...DAY! Never had a day with zero sales, and I don't spend a penny on advertising!"

It’s a different experience for everyone

As much as we want to generalize the sellers’ experience during Prime Day, we can’t. There are a lot of things to consider including their ad spend, inventory level, pricing strategy, and product category.

For our subscribers…

We ran our poll this week and asked our subscribers how Prime Day went for them.

  • 75% said it was a success
  • 25% said it wasn’t as successful as they hope it’d be
