Amazon's annual Prime Day is coming up, but the e-commerce giant has showcased early discounts and member-only offerings since June 21st.
In its early promotions, Amazon highlights smaller sellers on its marketplaces, remaining consistent with its PR efforts to promote small businesses. One way to show this is by rewarding Prime members who will support small businesses from June 21 to July 11 with chances to win "epic" gifts for each dollar spent on products from qualified small businesses.
Another feature Amazon implemented to promote small businesses is introducing the latest Small Business Badge to recognize these small businesses and artisans within the marketplace. If shoppers want to learn more and shop curated collections, they can visit amazon.com/supportsmall.
Customers can also shop products from top national brands and more third-party sellers than on the previous Prime Day, including many small and medium-sized businesses. Also, new deals from different product categories will be available throughout Prime Day, providing customers with significant savings.
Amazon Prime Vice President Jamil Ghani said that Amazon is making it simple for its buyers to find the best deals during Prime Day this year, from personalized deal recommendations to Alexa reminders. So this means that Prime members can expect a pleasant shopping experience and fantastic deals on Prime Day 2022.
Key Bites:
The rumors about a fall Prime Day event came about when sellers posted on seller discussion boards in early June. They claimed seeing an option to set up a lighting deal for the "Prime Fall Deal Event." The prompt stated that sellers "have until July 22, 2022 (11:59 p.m. PDT) to submit recommended Lightning Deals for Prime Fall Deal Event Week. The Prime Fall Deal Event FBA shipping deadline is September 12."
Although Amazon isn't confirming anything yet, they are standing firm with their previous confirmation that Prime Day 2022 will take place on July 12-13; other factors say this rumor might be legitimate.
An agency that helps brands sell on Amazon, Envision Horizons, blogged about the supposed Prime Deal Fall Event. In their post, they said, "Amazon is now accepting submissions for the Prime Fall Deal Event, while simultaneously accepting deals for Black Friday / Cyber Monday," and even have sellers dub this fall event "Prime Day 2.0."
Only one year after Amazon allowed Pakistani merchants to use its marketplace, thousands of sellers from Pakistan have already joined一more than those from India, Vietnam, the UK, or Canada combined.
In May 2021, Amazon added Pakistan to the list of 85 new countries allowed to sell on its marketplace. According to local media reports, talks among Amazon, Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce, and the National e-Commerce Council began in 2020. As a result, the inclusion of Pakistan on Amazon’s list came as part of Pakistan’s first e-commerce policy a year earlier.
According to Marketplace Pulse research, Pakistan ranks third among new sellers who joined the Amazon marketplace in the US in 2022. As expected, America and China are at the top of the list. But even while the thousands of Pakistani merchants pale in contrast to these two major markets, they still outnumber other countries worldwide, including export hubs like India and close neighbors like Canada.
While remarkable, this is not entirely surprising as Pakistan is home to the world’s largest Amazon seller groups even before the country was officially permitted to sell on Amazon. These groups include “Ecommerce by Enablers” with over 1.2 million members, “Extreme Commerce by Sunny Ali” with over 1.1 million, and “Ecommerce Success Pakistan” with under 200,000.
