Both e-commerce giants have experienced a significant decline in app downloads in 2021. Singapore-grown Shopee now tops the list, followed by Shein, an app that was initially launched in China. Meesho, an Indian social commerce app, pops in third just before Amazon, indicating how these apps have successfully penetrated the Southeast and East Asia market and several European and Latin American countries. Although Amazon garnered a 12% decrease in downloads for the past year, it's not necessarily bad news since they have just started branching to other countries with relatively smaller markets like Egypt and Poland.
